Georgia Retina’s Accredited Retina-only Ambulatory Surgery Center Only One in Metro Atlanta

Georgia Retina, the largest retina-only medical practice in Georgia, offers an Ambulatory Surgery Center to provide the highest level of specialized care for retina surgery patients.
The Georgia Retina Ambulatory Surgery Center is licensed by the state of Georgia and has achieved the highest level of accreditation — a three-year award by The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).
Located in the Center Pointe II building at 1100 Johnson Ferry Road, the one-year-old center is the only retina-only surgical center in the metro Atlanta area. Equipped with the newest, state-of-the-art eye surgery technology, the center is staffed exclusively by the practice’s board certified, fellowship trained retina specialists.
“We offer our patients the convenience of an ambulatory surgical center so we can manage the quality of their care throughout the surgical process,” said Dr. Jay Stallman, a Georgia Retina physician and the center’s medical director.
“While in the operating room, our patients are monitored closely by one of our experienced anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists who specialize in retina surgery,” he added.
The AAAASF is the largest not-for-profit accrediting organization in the United States. The group was established in 1980 to develop an accreditation program to standardize and improve the quality of medical and surgical care in ambulatory surgery facilities while assuring the public of high standards for patient care and safety in an accredited facility.
Georgia Retina was founded in 1995 by the merger of two retina-only medical practices, and now has nine retina specialists.

The practice has seven offices in the greater Atlanta area. The offices are located in Atlanta, Decatur, Douglasville, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Riverdale, and Cumming. Most patients at Georgia Retina are referred by other physicians, but the practice will also accept patients with known or suspected retina and vitreous disorders and those with a history of diabetes.
Georgia Retina has a long history of commitment to and participation in clinical trials in order to provide patients access to new, state-of-the-art preventative, or therapeutic, treatments. The goal of the practice is to provide patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials of new treatments for retinal diseases. The group partners with the National Eye Institute, some of the nation’s top pharmaceutical companies, and other clinical practices to explore the causes and cures for many retinal conditions.
At Georgia Retina, patients’ vision needs are the top priority. As the largest retina-only medical practice in the Southeastern United States, Georgia Retina specializes in treating diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous.
